Sable Gate Winery

You just have to try the “Adopt a Grape” program at Sable Gate Winery in Houston. You can select your very own wine. Then, bottle it, cork it, and personalize it with a fun custom label. 

This family-owned business is also a great place to have a few glasses of great wine and a slice of pizza. They have a huge menu of red wines and white wines to choose from. Plus, there’s a loyalty club that will earn you two bottles of wine from Sable Gate each month!

French Country Wines

French Country Wines is located in an ideal spot for creating high-quality wines. The staff is knowledgeable and the tasting room is a gorgeous spot for wine tastings. My favorite part is that each bottle of wine comes with a fun book on wine culture and history. 

You’ll love the bubbly rose and fruity dessert wines on the menu here. There’s something for everyone so it’s easy to understand how this special little winery ended up on a list of the best wineries in the Houston Texas area. If you want a cozy French experience, this is the palace you should visit.

Decant Urban Winery

This winery features bottles of Chardonnay from California, Cabernet from Washington, and lots of great varietals too. Their indoor warehouse space stocks wine bottles from all over.

Saddlehorn Winery

Partway between Houston and Austin, you’ll find Saddlehorn Winery. The vineyard grows Blanc du Bois and Black Spanish grapes which they crush and ferment in an old horse barn, giving the wine its name. Their hand-crafted wines are full of award-winning flavors you don’t want to miss.

Nice Winery

Ian Eastveld and Ryan Levy got the idea for Nice Winery while training as chefs at Le Cordon Bleu in France. They brought their expertise home to Houston and created Nice Wines.

Haak Vineyards & Winery

Haak Wines began as a hobby between a husband and wife on their 10th wedding anniversary. Soon, Raymond and Gladys Haak began growing a whole new grape: Blanc du Bois. They were the first to introduce Blanc du Bois to Texas in 1969.

Wild Stallion Vineyards

Grab a flight with 3 different signature wines at Wild Stallion Vineyards in Spring, Texas just a 30 minute drive from Houston. The tasting room is beautifully decorated with hardwood floors and a patio overlooking beautiful gardens.

Wild Stallion has several acres of Blanc du Bois grapes next to their Event Center. You can get a tour of the vineyards and experience the vines up close as you enjoy a glass of their award-winning wine.

Texas Star Winery

Located an hour from Houston, Texas Star Winery is worth the drive. This acclaimed winery is named for the Lone Star State because it’s located in the same county that gave Texas its name. 

The handmade wines at Texas Star are full of flavor. It’s easy to see why this winery is part of the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail. 

Envy Wine Room 

Envy Wine Room in Spring Texas is a short drive from the city. This premium wine bar features house made sangria and steaks on Thursdays. It’s the perfect place for a date night tasting.
