Hotel ICON sits in the heart of downtown Houston near the University of Houston. The hotel was once a bank built in 1911 and maintains many of the original details including the bank vault. Hotel Ylem
This fun and creative boutique hotel is perfect for people who love art. When you first walk up to Hotel Ylem, you’ll be greeted with a large mural covering the facade of the hotel. It’s immediately obvious that this hotel is laid-back and very cool.
The hotel is located close to the NRG Stadium and Houston Aerodrome. It’s just 3 miles from Houston Museum of Natural Science too. Plus, it’s also at the edge of the Brays Bayou hiking trail, so you’ll have plenty to do and explore while you’re in the city.
Rooms at the hotel are simple with carefully chosen eclectic decor, coffeemakers, minifridges, and microwaves. It’s a great spot for families too since some rooms feature sofa beds allowing them to sleep up to 6 guests in just one room.
Hotel Ylem’s amenities are some of my favorites! They offer a lounge bar, a library, and free parking that’s unusual for the city. Plus, there’s a hot breakfast for guests.
Hotel Zaza
There are two Hotel Zaza locations in the Houston area. Hotel Zaza Houston Memorial city is a 30 minute drive from the Museum Park district, but Hotel Zaza Museum Park is right in the heart of the action. Make sure to choose the right hotel for you.
Hotel Zaza Museum Park is just a two minute walk from Hermann Park and near the Museum Disctric light rail station. The rooms are gorgeous with chandeliers and plus French-inspired sofas. They even offer fun themed suites!
